The Semien mountain national park located North of Gonder is a magnificent landscape. It is the home to some rare mammal species such as Gelada Baboon, Semien fox, Walia ibex, a goat found nowhere else in the world and other birds and plant species.

The Semien mountain national park is a spectacular place for trekking. The breathtaking view of the landscape shaped by nature is massif. The main Ethiopian chain mountains and plateaus including the highest point in Ethiopia Ras Dashen (4620) meters above sea level and some cliffs reach about 1500m in height blessed the park an exceptional natural beauty. The park lies about 179 square kilometer. It is UNESCO world heritage site.
